FIRST TRAINING PACKAGE

The first training package of the TOTEMK project, scheduled for April, will kick off a four-year initiative focused on enhancing Kenyan teacher educators’ knowledge in 21st-century skills. This intensive three-day training will provide educators with a deeper understanding of essential skills such as problem-solving, critical thinking, collaboration, communication, and creativity. Following the in-person sessions, a ten-week distance learning period will allow participants to further refine their skills.

The project will strengthen the capacity of teacher education and institutional management in Kenya and get more teachers for the labour market that is competent to deliver Competency Based Curriculum in the Kenyan schools.

Africa’s global importance is growing. This is one of the reasons why the University of Helsinki is investing in cooperation with the continent. The University published its Africa programme for 2021–2030 on 14 October.
Global action, sustainability and responsibility – these three themes receive particular emphasis in both the Strategic Plan of the University of Helsinki 2021–2030 and the University’s recently approved Africa programme.
